Book Review: Dear Santa by Debbie Macomber
This is a sweet, clean romance that takes place during the holidays in Wenatchee, Washington. It is a story of moving on from past hurts, learning to trust again, reuniting with family, wishing for a more fulfilling life, and reevaluating priorities.
The main character Lindy Carmichael lives in Seattle, Washington where she works at Media Blast designing websites for their clients. When she goes home to spend Christmas with her family, she meets a delightful handsome man by the name of William. Lindy previously knew William as Billy, a boy who used to pick on her in grade school, who mysteriously moved away.
While home for the holidays, Lindy’s mother Ellen pulls out the letters Lindy had written to Santa as a young child. While Lindy is reminiscing of Christmases past and her requests to Santa, she realizes that most of her requests in the letters she had written to Santa had been granted. Her mother encourages her to write another letter to Santa. In her new letter Lindy wishes for a best friend, a love interest, and for her work proposal to be accepted. Will her new wish list be fulfilled?
I really enjoyed this quick holiday read. It was a sweet and uplifting romance filled with the joy of the holiday season and the hope of a better life. The story shows that sometimes the wishes in our heart aren’t really what we need in order to find peace and happiness in our lives.
On a 1 to 5 scale, I give this book a solid 4 stars. If you enjoy the stories of romantic relationships that take place during the holiday season and show up on the Hallmark Channel you will likely enjoy this read!
